Seniors, we’re expressing ourselves, building our future

This is one of several “slam poems” from seniors who used words from a list of ideas responding to the prompt “As seniors, we are resolute. . . .”

As seniors, we are resolute to graduate

All of our life has been school, mainly procrastinating

Freedom at last

However, through the years we were simply

Finding ourselves

Expressing our identity

And building our future

While perhaps getting lost along the way.

All of it has led us to this position.

Having fun

Being of age

And making memories

Ultimately just trying to make it through

and pass our classes.

As seniors, we are resolute about getting some sleep

Going beach

And endless weekends.

Just wanting a break from reality

Our teen years are close to ending

Wanting to make the best of what’s left

As seniors, we are resolute to go to college

Leaving

Or going back home.

Whatever it may be,

We’re happy to not only experience it with fun friends

But to graduate with them, too.

Hopefully all this work can lead us to being successful.
