Student Association practicing for the Welcome Back Assembly

The Student Association is hard at work preparing for this year’s August 5th Welcome Back Assembly. It is the first time in two years that Moanalua will be having this event in person. The assembly, which is normally held at the gym, will be on the athletic field due to Covid protocols.

Assembly preparation began in late May while the student work days started last week. The students decided on a Scooby Doo theme this year because it is “a classic that everyone knows and has a variety of characters,” Student Association Treasurer Lizzie Kraft said.

The committee prepared scripts, choreography, and props to “kick off the start of school and educate the new students,” Student Association President Taryn Savelio said.

Savelio is looking forward to “the entire school returning to some sense of normalcy after two and a half years of Covid,” she said.

The Welcome Back Assembly helps new students prepare for the upcoming year and reminds all students of the activities and events they can participate in at Moanalua to round out their school experience.
