First place comes down to game 11. Na Menehune varsity girls basketball team is a perfect “10” so far this season (10-0) and is tied with OIA East with Kahuku High School. The two will face off tonight to determine who finishes the season at the top.
Junior Shailoh Lililii is the team high scorer with an average 12.4 points per game, or 99 total so far. She’s followed by junior Rheanna Nobleza, who averages 10.6 points per game, and has a team-high 12 three pointers. Nobleza has contributed 85 points this season. Junior Akaecia Mateo is in third with a 6.9 average, 55 point total. This includes five three-pointers.
Junior Courtney Abalos said the team has been dominant “because of the team chemistry and the amount of work we put in,” she said.
She said part of their success comes down to “some of the transfer players [and the fact that ] we have practice every single day unless we have a game, and we work on things we have to improve on such as executing our plays.”
The game will be televised on Spectrum 16 at 7:00 p.m.
