Jenna Hanohano, a registrar assistant at Moanalua, is now in her third year of law school at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. She is enrolled in the part-time program, which allows students to work full time while pursuing a degree in law.
“I always wanted to go to law school. The reason I waited so long is that I didn’t have the time because I had kids,” she said.
With this program, she is able to have a balance of work, school, and family. In the mornings, she comes into her day job at the registrar’s office until 4pm. After getting off of work, she heads straight to campus where her classes usually last until 8:30pm. Then, she returns home to her family to eat dinner, spend time with her husband, and tuck her kids into bed.
While she isn’t one hundred percent sure what type of law she wants to work in, she is interested in criminal and property law.
Despite all the challenges of a busy life, Hanohano manages to pursue her desires of being a lawyer while managing a full-time job and an active family.
