As February is the month of love, it’s the perfect time to relax and enjoy all kinds of movies to celebrate love. Whether it’s an Enemies to Lovers, Fake Relationship (where two mutuals date for a specific reason which both applies to them in the end), or just a simple Strangers to Lovers trope, here are my top five romantic comedies which are perfect for cozy Valentine’s nights, fun Galentine’s celebrations with friends, or even the ideal movie lineup for a romantic date night no matter what month it is.

The Notebook (2004): Classic Love Story (Romance/Drama)
Description:
The Notebook is a 1996 romance novel (and 2004 film) by Nicholas Sparks, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Set in post-WWII North Carolina, following the enduring love story of Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson. Separated by social class and family pressure, the couple reunites years later, with the narrative framed by an
elderly man reading their story to a woman with Alzheimer’s in a nursing home.
Review:
I’ve never read the novel, but this movie would most definitely be a 10/10. It hits close to home for hopeless romantics like myself as the movie does show a plot of yearning (a feeling of intense longing for something, typically something that one has been separated from or that is unattainable). As many lessons are shown in this movie,Including the saying “If he wanted to he would” which reminds the couple that genuine care is through actions and not just words. Therefore allows the movie of the plot to play out and not be rushed.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018): Modern Teen Romance (Romantic Comedy)
Description:To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is a teen romance (book by Jenny Han, Netflix film) following Lara Jean Song Covey, whose secret love letters to 5 of her crushes are accidentally mailed. To avoid confronting her old crush (who is her sister’s ex), she enters a fake relationship with a popular high school athlete starring as their very own Lacrosse player Peter Kavinsky, leading to romantic entanglements.
Review:The movie was enjoyable. I would honestly rate it a 8/10, it’s every classic romcom, showing her fake relationship with her old crush grow into a real relationship. They encounter disagreements in the next 2 movies. It reflects high school relationships that can either make it or break.
Flipped (2010):Innocent First Love (Romantic Drama)

Description:Flipped is a 2010 romantic comedy-drama directed by Rob Reiner that explores the evolving, alternating perspectives of two neighbors, Juli Baker and Bryce Loski, from second grade through eighth grade in 1960s Michigan. As Juli falls for Bryce and he avoids her, their feelings eventually “flip” just as they learn lessons about character, empathy, and family.
Review:Flipped was my very first romcom and an honest 10/10. This story is just a classic. She fell first and he fell harder, but there was so much more. It showed the reality of two families, coming to a conclusion that not everything and everyone is the same, but have different stories.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999):Romantic Comedy
Description:Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, “10 Things I Hate About You” takes place in Seattle, Washington. Main characters Kat and Patrick as they slowly fall in love through funny and awkward situations. It combines romance with comedy perfectly.
Review:This movie honestly has my whole heart. It’s a perfect 10/10. It doesn’t only show the story of the main couple, but also shows a side couple which is Kat’s younger sister. It’s the kind of relationship that Kat and Patrick build together, where Patrick slowly falls for her and comes to understand her in a way no one else does. As they go through a rough patch, everything comes together when Kat writes a heartfelt poem inspired by Shakespeare, pouring all of her emotions into one powerful assignment.
La La Land (2016): Romance/Musical
Description:When Sebastian, a pianist, and Mia, an actress, follow their passion and achieve success in their respective fields, they find themselves torn between their love for each other and their careers.
Review: This movie is honestly like no other, it’s a musical that automatically catches your attention in the first 5 minutes. I would honestly rate this movie a 9/10. It is technically similar to “The Notebook” but it takes place in Los Angeles where one follows their dreams and the other is trying to survive. Which leads to the hardships of facing the reality of loving someone you can’t truly have. It shows the truth that in every love story it doesn’t always come with happy endings.
These 5 movies are honestly a perfect mix of romance, comedy, innocence, and realities of falling in love. From emotional tearjerkers to fun romantic comedies which show different sides of love, grab popcorn, your loved one and enjoy the sound of unforgettable romance.
